Default perfect ?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section if not could a mod move it for me please.

I keep hearing about people saying that they have perfect weapons and then quoting a load of numbers.

could some one post here what perfect weapons are Ie the max damage the different weapons cam do and what makes it perfect ?

also could some one explain what the numbers mean 15/50 20/20 etc on a weapon as I keep seeing it on weapons advertised as perfect.

15/50 is usually 15^50, or "You deal 15% more damage while your health is above 50%" and is one of the most liked modifiers.
20/20 is for Sundering - You have a 20% chance of reducing your target's armor by 20%.

Perfect is usually when all the mods are maxed out.

in theory,a weapon can have many options for perfect mods
but perfect is most used for martial weapons:
15^50(the damage mod)
+30hp
20/20 sundering(sundering sux)
or shield
+30hp
-5(20%)

Yeah, "perfect", to many is "req9 (though many seem to be confused, thinking the word "requirement" starts with a "q"), 15^50, 20/20, +30"...which means "Requires 9 in that specific attribute, Armor Penetration +20% (20% chance), Health +30.

Though keep in mind, the REAL definition of a perfect weapon is anything with perfect max mods on it.

and as usual, the common "perfect" mods happen to be some of the worst in the game for most wepons.

Sundering on daggers for example, "perfect" yet useless.

There is also HCT & HRC 20/20 meaning you have a half cast time and a half recharge time of 20% for spells....

Zealous on daggers is the perfect mod.
19% sundering and 20% sundering can mean the different between 100g and 2k.

Oh and gold weps are favoured over purple. Gold is 'perfecterer' than purple!

"Perfect" has three meanings:

1. A particular mod is "perfect" if it is maxed. Example a 20% enchanting sword pommel is "perfect," but a 19% one is not.

2. An item may be called "perfect" if:
  • It's max damage
  • It's req 9
  • It's inscribable or has an inherent mod that is both "perfect" (under meaning #1) and desirable for that weapon type (usually 15^50).
I think this definition is probably the "best" definition for a "perfect" item. However, note that it's incompatible with definition #3.

3. An item may be called "perfect" if:
  • It's max damage
  • It's req 9
  • It's inscribed with a 15^50 inscription or has an inherent 15^50 mod
  • It has a 20/20 sundering prefix attached.
  • It has a +30 hp suffix attached.
This definition is very popular among sub-human trade trolls. Ironically, the sundering mod out-and-out sucks, and the +30 hp is usually inferior to +5AL for most PvE purposes.

This is NOT perfect! Dont say it is .20/20instead of +1-1 is perfect.

Actually a perfect is any weapon with all maximum modifications and with maximum damage. It is still debated as to what the requirement should be on a perfect weapon, but I have always felt that a requirement of nine (9) or less is perfect. Individual preference, as seen by your choice in a 20/20 sundering, does not determine if it is perfect. The zealous modification of -1 / +1 is a max modification for the sword and has a greater benefit if running a half energy / adrenalin builds on a warrior. A sundering mod would be of more use on an axe or scythe with their increased chance of scoring critical hits. The forums on Guru have several debates listed on what makes a perfect weapon, such as this one; http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...perfect+weapon.

Mar. 27, 2008 12:06:14
Sorry, 15^50, 20/20,+30 are perfect mods. Dont be a dick you know this.

r.shayne Mar. 28, 2008 08:04:12
You may wish to take this to a debate forum instead of through private messages to get a better prespective and a better understanding of game mechanics. On the fifth sentence I did make a mistake it should read "A sundering mod would be of more use on an axe or scythe with increased chance of scoring higher damage during critical hits." A new debate has been posted here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...hlight=perfect
The messages I quoted above came from an auction I held for a perfect shadow blade. I really don't know what to make of it, don't want to accuse the guy of being "sub-human trade troll" (thanks for giving them titles Chthon).

I do have to admit that I run a furous mod on a hammer, don't use it much as the damage + armor is just not there but it just looks good to me and looks win over pratical all the time.

In trading terms: only 15^50, 20/20, +30 is perfect

Before flame comes in, i only said "Perfect" in "Trading Terms". I didn't say whether it is good or not or whether it is correct in the "English" sense.

Exactly, Kobe. "Perfect" is a misnomer used purely in trading and, as stated above, means req 9, 15^50, 20/20 +30 for martial weapons.

In actuality, there is and can be no perfect. Different weapons are "perfect" for different situations.

I always liked that hammer.

Excellent combo with that armor though (which I usually hate, stupid warriors with dyed black primeval). Never would have thought of it. I approve this message (both the content about perfect mods being many different things and the awesome screenshot).

You mean like Eight cylinder engine starts with a "V" (V8)?

The "V" has noting to do with the number of cylinders, but the angle between the two rows of four cylinders. There also is a "straight 8" engine, meaning the 8 cylinders are in a row, not canted.

In trading terms alot of people refer to weapons satisfying the "Req.9, 15^50, 20/20, +30hp" criteria as being perfect that is true. To say that when refereing to a 'perfect' item you must use ONLY those criteria is quite wrong. Obviously you are one such person who feels like that but do not believe for a second that other people with different definitions of 'perfect' whilst trading don't exist.

Personally though I dislike the use of the word 'perfect' when trading anyway - and think that anyone who does use it commonly when refering to "Req.9, 15^50, 20/20, +30hp" items perhaps satisfies the criteria of the aforementioned "sub-human trade troll".

Any max AL (armor level) for the profession is considered perfect, as long as you buy it from an Armorer, not a Collector, or you won't be able to add an Insignia.

60 for Elementalist
60 for Mesmer
60 for Monk
60 for Necromancer
60 for Ritualist
70 for Assassin
70 for Dervish
70 for Ranger
80 for Paragon
80 for Warrior

This is especially true for armors, since you can't trade them.

Thats a whole lot of assumption there friend.

1: You don't know me. (at least I don't know who are you)
2: You haven't traded with me (I believe)
3: If you go out spamming WTS PERFECT xx sword (15% vs hexed foes, zealous, +5ar) -- chances are you will get a nasty feedback. And NO, you won't get it for me. I am just telling you what you gonna expect while trading in game.
4: When I say trading terms, i meant the majority of people trading, I don't mean ALL. You gonna expect people who deviate from the norm. (like me)
